Ovens are such a blessing. I know I take mine for granted even though I use it almost every day. From baking chicken nuggets for the kiddos to roasting a turkey for Thanksgiving dinner, the oven in my house sees a lot of action. If you are like me and you cook a lot, it becomes painfully apparent how much you rely on an oven or range when yours is not working correctly. 

I used to have a counter stovetop and slide-in oven setup that was from the 70s. While it was smaller than I would have liked it to be, my kitchen was easy enough to cook for my growing family. However, one day the baking element burned out in my oven. I could not find a replacement element. However, I could still use the broiler and cook some of the things I wanted to cook. But it was quickly becoming a nuisance to feed my girls and me. It became a problem that got out of hand due to my poor planning. I started eating out more often because of the irritation of having to plan around having essentially half an oven. Since I couldn't afford a new oven, this habit went on for a while. I soon realized that the extra expense of eating out was not allowing me to save for a new oven. In the end, I just had to knuckle down and deal with it if I was ever going to be able to geta new one.

Spring Has Sprung - More Time Outdoors

Longer Days and Warmer Weather This winter has had its ups and downs. Just when you think it was over, here came another week or more of cold weather. I guess winter just wasn't ready to loosen its icy grip just because an underground dwelling rodent said it was time. While the groundhog was a little off with his prognosticating this year, spring seems to have finally come.
