Are You Moving?

Moving. That word has a few meanings and connotations, doesn't it? "I gotta get up and get moving" is something you may say on a rainy Saturday morning. I just heard that our neighbors are moving to a different city. We are going to be moving around our furniture this weekend. Each one of these statements is using the word moving, but there isn't much in common as far as what each one means. 

Moving the Furniture

Sometimes a change-up is needed. Interestingly, there are quite a few benefits to rearranging your furniture. 

1) Cleaning - You may be better at doing this than me, but when it comes to the heavy furniture items, they don't get cleaned underneath often. Moving the furniture around is a great opportunity to clean up those inevitable dust bunnies. Or if you are like, the day we decide to move things around in the living room, it's like Christmas for the kiddos and pets. All the lost toys are found and they are ready to get lost again over the next few months. 

2) Extends Flooring Life - No matter what type of floor you have in your living room, the flow of the room goes a certain way. Traffic through the room will most likely be across the same path day in and day out. By moving the furniture around, you can help keep from beating a path down into the carpet or wear out the finish on your hardwood.  Even the dents from the legs of your chairs and sofas in the carpet will have time to bounce back. 

3) Avoid Sun Damage - Unless you live in a cave, chances are that your furniture is exposed to some form of sunlight. The sun can fade colors and if you have any direct sunlight coming in, you can et some stranged faded shapes on your stuff.  If you regularly move the furnishings in your living room around, you can help your sofa and loves seat to avoid getting any tan lines. 

4) De-clutter - This one is just an option, but if you are moving a table or set of shelves that collects things, now would be the time to evaluate if you really need some things. I always find it easier to get rid of some clutter around the house after I have rearranged the furniture in a room. Especially when it comes to my bedroom.

I Only Looked Away for a Split Second As parents, we do our best to look out for our children and keep them safe. The same can be said about most pet owners, as well. Spring Has Sprung - More Time Outdoors

Longer Days and Warmer Weather This winter has had its ups and downs. Just when you think it was over, here came another week or more of cold weather. I guess winter just wasn't ready to loosen its icy grip just because an underground dwelling rodent said it was time. While the groundhog was a little off with his prognosticating this year, spring seems to have finally come. All in all, I bet a lot of people are happy about this change of season.  Not to be a stick in the mud, but spring coming is always a mixed bag for me. I do enjoy the milder weather, but I seriously could do without all the allergies. I am sure the over-the-counter allergy medicine companies are happy for my patronage, I feel like I have to make a personal budget just for nasal sprays and pills.
