What Color is Your Living Room Furniture?

What Color is Your Living Room Furniture?

I am willing to bet that the furniture in your living room is either a darker shade of blue or some type of earth tone. The reason that I would guess these colors is they seem to be on the top of the list when it comes to surveys and studies done on living room color choices. While the color brown or blue is a broad term when it comes to pigment, it is a shade or variance of these two choices that are number one and number two on the list.

I wonder why it is that these are the top two choices. I will admit that I am neither an expert in the field of color psychology or interior design so any theories would just be guessing. The color blue is supposed to have a calming effect on people, but it can also make people feel sad. On the other hand, brown can give the feeling of security, but it can also invoke a feeling of isolation. This could mean that the feeling you get from colors can be subjective and that it may have more to do with personal experience. It's not like its an exact proven science. I do, however, wonder why we pick certain colors as our favorites.

Regardless of the questions why what we pick is personal preference. Because of what we like, we get what we want when it comes to living room furniture. Preference can play a part in everything from the color we paint the walls to how we place the furniture to create a flow for the room. Even though there are so many different styles and colors, one thing everyone wants is for the furniture to be comfortable.
