The Vacancy I am talking about is what's left now that Game of Thrones is over. If you have never heard of HBO's flagship tv show, then kudos to you for dodging that massive part of the modern cultural zeitgeist. I will spare anyone who is unfamiliar with it any kind of explanation because even in it's crudest form, the show's storyline is convoluted, at best. I like to joke that it's just a bunch of people fighting over a chair. For those who have been watching the show for some time, you may be wondering what to do Sunday night and whether you should keep your HBO subscription. 

Things to do in Place of Watching Game of Thrones

Read the Books: Anyone who has talked openly about the show has probably come across someone who read the books. You may have gotten the feeling that the person who read the books feels superior to other fans of the show. You could join that elite upper echelon and read the books, too. I joke about being an elitist, but the books do have some plot elements and characters left out of the show. 

Rearrange Your Living Room Set: Now that you have an extra hour and some change, you could use that time to make some changes with the old living room furniture. This time sink won't last long unless you have a huge amount of living room furniture in your home. 

Take up Knitting: If you want, you could learn how to knit and maybe even make a sweater for your dog with dragon wings. 

Talk to a Councilor about how the Ending Made You Feel: Some people got angry about the end of the dragon show they were watching and it may do them some good to talk to someone about their feelings. 

Live in a Time Loop: You really don't have to do anything more than purchase all the seasons on disc or keep your HBO Go subscription current. Who says you have to move on? Not me, for sure!

Spring Has Sprung - More Time Outdoors

Longer Days and Warmer Weather This winter has had its ups and downs. Just when you think it was over, here came another week or more of cold weather. I guess winter just wasn't ready to loosen its icy grip just because an underground dwelling rodent said it was time. While the groundhog was a little off with his prognosticating this year, spring seems to have finally come. All in all, I bet a lot of people are happy about this change of season.  Not to be a stick in the mud, but spring coming is always a mixed bag for me. I do enjoy the milder weather, but I seriously could do without all the allergies. I am sure the over-the-counter allergy medicine companies are happy for my patronage, I feel like I have to make a personal budget just for nasal sprays and pills.
