What is a Washer Without a Dryer?

Washers and dryers are simple machines when it comes down to the mechanical parts that operate them. As for the controls that create all the different operations, that's a different story. With me, when I was first on my own, it seemed like every few months, either the washer or the dryer would go out. It always happened to only one of them, never at the same time. For that reason, I always had a mismatched pair in my laundry room. 

What Could Go Wrong with an Old Dryer


This go-around, I would like to talk about dryers. There were times in my life where I was struggling to make ends meet and my dryer went out. While that is not an ideal situation, it's not the end of the world seeing as all you really need is a place to hang the wet clothes and some time. The problem was that it always seemed to catch me off guard at first. I would wake up after leaving my dryer running before I went to bed to find my clothes are still damp. Certain thoughts would flash through my head. Did I set the timer for the right amount or did the heating element go out? I would ask myself the questions you would ask when you are using a dryer that is over 20 years old that you bought at a garage sale or found on the side of the road. At that point, I would either find time for a visit to the laundromat or hang my clothes out to dry; both of which took the extra time I really didn't have. Eventually, I managed to get a nice new washer/dryer set that didn't cost an arm and a leg.

Spring Has Sprung - More Time Outdoors

Longer Days and Warmer Weather This winter has had its ups and downs. Just when you think it was over, here came another week or more of cold weather. I guess winter just wasn't ready to loosen its icy grip just because an underground dwelling rodent said it was time.
