If you are like me, you may have thought that a dinette was a smaller set of tables and chairs. After thinking this for several years, I found out that a dinette is actually a room. I have been in several in my lifetime and I actually have one in my home. A dinette is a small alcove or space, typically attached to the kitchen where you can sit and eat. A dining room is a completely separate room where people would take and eat their meals. If your house is anything like mine, the living room doubles as the dining room. While I wasn't raised this way, since I thought I didn't have a traditional dining room, I didn't think there was another option outside home renovation. 

My dinette that I have in my house is really just a five or six-foot square outcropping in my kitchen. I have actually used the space to store extra kitchen gadgets like the microwave and espresso machine. Now that I understand the concept, I really think I will try to find a small dining room set for sale in Clovis that will fit my needs. I really think that it will be a fun idea to have dinner and give my girls a chance to talk about their day with no television in the background drawing away their attention. 
The way I have tried to give this to them is to compromise and pause Hulu, Netflix, or whatever we are streaming and ask questions about their day. Typically, it seems they really just want to get back to the program and they give brief answers. Maybe getting a small dining room set and eating away from any distractions will help.

Spring Has Sprung - More Time Outdoors

Longer Days and Warmer Weather This winter has had its ups and downs. Just when you think it was over, here came another week or more of cold weather. I guess winter just wasn't ready to loosen its icy grip just because an underground dwelling rodent said it was time. While the groundhog was a little off with his prognosticating this year, spring seems to have finally come. All in all, I bet a lot of people are happy about this change of season.  Not to be a stick in the mud, but spring coming is always a mixed bag for me. I do enjoy the milder weather, but I seriously could do without all the allergies. I am sure the over-the-counter allergy medicine companies are happy for my patronage, I feel like I have to make a personal budget just for nasal sprays and pills.
