Furniture in a Perfect World
If we all lived in a perfect world, there would never be those accidents that happen and put that unwanted stain or wear and tear on our furniture. Sadly, since we do live in reality, we have to deal with all the wonderful mishaps that come with life. I am no stranger to messing things up and let me tell you my two daughters are really good at it, too. Throw in the cat and its shenanigans and you have a delightful recipe for disaster waiting to happen.
I am always really good about using the sofa closest to my front door to stack all my stuff when I walk through the door. While I am would never get on to my kids about doing this, sometimes, life does its best to make you realize that even the most benign of actions can have disastrous consequences. One time, I left a bag from the grocery store sitting on the couch because I set it down to answer my phone as I came in the house. Not a big deal in most cases, but this time it just happened to be ice cream and it melted while I was distracted. It also happened to be tilted on its side and inside a paper grocery sack. By the time I noticed that it had leaked all over my sofa, it was way too late and I spent quite a bit of time trying to clean up the chocolate stains.
My oldest daughter has basically laid claim to the loveseat and she creates what I call a nest every time she sits down. The nests consist of crafting supplies, cords for electronic devices, half-empty bottles of water, and if I am not around to catch her eating, plates and used napkins. I can't tell you how many times we've gone round and round about eating on the loveseat without using the dinner trays.
As for my youngest, she loves sitting on the floor and makes a pallet out of blankets. That's just her thing to do when we all get ready to watch something in the living room. I don't complain because she has to clean most of it up and shes not making her nest on the actual furniture. However, she still climbs all over the living room furniture set like its some kind of jungle gym when she is playing make-believe.
