Furniture Sets are the Way to Go

Image
When it Comes to Sets I'm not going to lie, when I was young and just starting out, I would buy or scavenge whatever I could find to furnish my apartment. As I got older and started to make a little bit more money, I began replacing my furniture items in my home one piece at a time. By the time I had my entire place full with the items I felt like I needed, I realized it was an eclectic mess. None of my furniture matched since sometimes it was a couple of years between when I would purchase an item.  A red sofa and a green recliner made it feel like I was trying to have Christmas year round.  Now, in the present, I have replaced the kaleidoscope of colors in my house with sets of matching furniture. I have never been one for aesthetics, obviously, but I have to say that there is a certain feeling that comes from a home where everything matches and you have the decor to go with it. It makes decorating and painting much easier when your furniture matches. If you are going

What do We All do Now that Game of Thrones is Over?

Image
Living Room Sets and the Vacancy in Our TV The Vacancy I am talking about is what's left now that Game of Thrones is over. If you have never heard of HBO's flagship tv show, then kudos to you for dodging that massive part of the modern cultural zeitgeist. I will spare anyone who is unfamiliar with it any kind of explanation because even in it's crudest form, the show's storyline is convoluted, at best. I like to joke that it's just a bunch of people fighting over a chair. For those who have been watching the show for some time, you may be wondering what to do Sunday night and whether you should keep your HBO subscription.  Things to do in Place of Watching Game of Thrones Read the Books: Anyone who has talked openly about the show has probably come across someone who read the books. You may have gotten the feeling that the person who read the books feels superior to other fans of the show. You could join that elite upper echelon and read the books, too.

What Color is Your Living Room Furniture?

Image
What Color is Your Living Room Furniture? I am willing to bet that the furniture in your living room is either a darker shade of blue or some type of earth tone . The reason that I would guess these colors is they seem to be on the top of the list when it comes to surveys and studies done on living room color choices. While the color brown or blue is a broad term when it comes to pigment, it is a shade or variance of these two choices that are number one and number two on the list.  I wonder why it is that these are the top two choices. I will admit that I am neither an expert in the field of color psychology or interior design so any theories would just be guessing. The color blue is supposed to have a calming effect on people, but it can also make people feel sad. On the other hand, brown can give the feeling of security, but it can also invoke a feeling of isolation. This could mean that the feeling you get from colors can be subjective and that it may have more to do wit

I Remember Grandpa's Recliner

Image
Memories of the Giant Recliner I have many fond memories of when I was a child. Of all the recollections, one that stands out predominately is my memory of my grandpa's recliner. I would sit on his lap, and we would watch episodes of Wheel of Fortune in the evenings when we would come to visit. Other times, he would play around with me and "count my ribs" which actually was just a way to tickle me until I begged for mercy. On or around Christmas, we would sit together and listen to music on the record player as various artists sang their renditions of classic songs. One other thing sticks out in my mind, and that was how giant I thought that recliner was. Now, I wasn't allowed to sit in it by myself if my grandpa was around. Everyone in the house knew that was his chair. Most people know that unspoken rule; dad or grandpa's chair is his to sit in. Some families that I was friends with went so far that no one could sit in the chair even if dad or grandpa weren
